Music expresses which cannot be said and on which it is impossible to be silent.

Mika

May 09, 2010

Well, I know that the singer Mika is not a rock artist, but I went to his concert last Friday and I just have to say it was awesome! I am not in the mood of writing a lot actually, but he totally deserves some attention, haha. He played nineteen (!) songs, a mix from Life In Cartoon Motion and The Boy Who Knew Too Much. His concert wasn't just about the music, but he made a whole show of it.

His voice was incredible live too! I was not sure what to expect from him, but I can definately say that he is a great singer! He was very enthusiastic and he tried some Dutch sentences in between the songs, which made me fall in love with him, haha. If you ever get the chance to visit a concert from him, I'd say: go! You won't regret it =)

Brand New Eyes (CD)

April 18, 2010

I listen to this album constantly (even right now, haha).

I suppose everyone knows that Brand New Eyes is the latest album (2009) from the great band Paramore? For the people who don't: Paramore is an American rock band. It consists of five members: Hayley Williams (vocals, keyboard), Josh Farro (guitar, backing vocals), Jeremy Davis (bass), Zac Farro (drums) and Taylor York (rhythmic guitar). They have been nominated for a lot of important music awards (like the Grammy Awards and MTV European Music Awards) and that's cool, because they are awesome.

Brand New Eyes is their latest album and I have to say: I liked All We Know Is Falling and Riot!, but Brand New Eyes is definately their best. I actually love ALL the songs and that doesn't happen often with me.

The songs on this CD are:

  • 1. Careful
  • 2. Ignorance
  • 3. Playing God
  • 4. Brick by Boring Brick
  • 5. Turn It Off
  • 6. The Only Exception
  • 7. Feeling Sorry
  • 8. Looking Up
  • 9. Where The Lines Overlap
  • 10. Misguided Ghosts
  • 11. All I Wanted

This songs are all great, that's the only thing I can say about it. The lyrics are deep and Hayley's voice always touches me; she's a brilliant singer. I suppose you all know about Paramore and Brand New Eyes, but if you don't: please check them out! You won't be disappointed, haha. Oh, and before I forget: the acoustic versions of Ignorance, Brick by Boring Brick and Turn It Off are awesome too!

A Little Faster (CD)

April 11, 2010

Yeah, another blog about one of my favourite CD's, hehe.

I have A Little Faster from There For Tomorrow already on my computer for a quite long time, but I still can listen to it with the same pleasure as the first time. There For Tomorrow is an alternative rock band from Florida and I have to say: I just love their music. I like their other CD Point of Origin too and also their EP Pages, but this CD particularly caught my attention.

The songs on this CD are:

  • 1. The Remedy
  • 2. A Little Faster
  • 3. Wish You Away
  • 4. Backbone
  • 5. Deathbed
  • 6. Just In Time
  • 7. Stories
  • 8. I Can't Decide
  • 9. Sore Winner
  • 10. Burn The Night Away
  • 11. The World Calling

Although I like all the songs, Backbone and Deathbed are the best in my opinion. The lyrics of both are super; I always feel the urge to scream along with Maika's brilliant voice at Backbone and Deathbed made me shiver. The tracks are all great though; if you like rock music and bands like The Maine and Mayday Parade, you'll probably like this too.

Go and buy or download this CD; they are way underrated according to my opinion!

The only one that I have ever known
Don't know where it goes
But it's home to me and I walk alone

Be Human (EP)

April 10, 2010

Well, my first actual blog on onsugar! =)

I'd like to tell you something about the EP Be Human, because I am quite in love with it at the moment, haha. It's from the Californian indie/rock band Brighten. They have produced several EP's and one album before (Ready When You Are, Early Love, King VS Queen), but I especially love this one. While listening to it, you just simply have to enjoy it and the soft, intens sounds make you dream.

The EP contains six marvellous songs:

  • 1. Where We Belong
  • 2. Without You
  • 3. While The Fire Was Out
  • 4. That Girl
  • 5. Be Human
  • 6. I Lost Her

  • Where We Belong, While The Fire Was Out, Be Human and I Lost Her are the songs where you discover and feel the indie roots of the band, while Without You and That Girl make you realise that Brighten is a rock band (and a great one!) too. This mix makes this EP really powerful and enjoyable to listen to. Check Be Human out, it's worth it ♥

    Rock Your Life ♫

    April 09, 2010

Welcome to this brand new blog!

I am not an expert of writing blogs and I still make some English mistakes after years of education, but that didn't stop me from opening Rock Your Life ♫! It seemed a good idea to me to write some kind of introduction, so that you know what you can expect from me.
At first, I adore listening to music, but I especially love rock music (that explains the creative name of this weblog, huh =)). I will write some pieces about my favourite artists, about songs or CD's I like a lot and maybe I'll even post some beautiful or inspiring lyrics from great tracks. I guess that will depend on my mood! (:

I am interested in what you think of my musical taste and blogs, so don't be afraid of reacting!
